Marae DIY at Taheke

Friday 24 May

😉Marae DIY at Taheke😌

Yesterday me and my friends went to Taheke marea to help the Adults do some work. After we arrived me and my siblings had to wait for our school  to come and help us do some painting so we waited for about 5 minutes or so.

We helped our school mates get some fruit, milk and bread the school donated out of my teachers truck and put them inside the kitchen and then we went outside and put our vest, resene hat, and get a bucket and paint brushes. Then they grabbed these big boards and lay them against the wall then we filled our buckets up with paint mixed up with a little bit of water and put them in our buckets and started to paint the boards then they take the painted boards and put them on the grass and let them dry in the sun then they grab more & more until there was no more.

Then everybody went off inside and had some morning tea then put there dishes away and walked outside to continue  working and all the tamariki went back to painting.

It was soo cool to see so many people working together to get the Marae fixed up, and to see them pull walls off, paint the roof, dig big huge holes for bury the old wood from inside the marae was cool to watch.

Then our school mates had to go, they walked off back to the truck and drove off back to school and just after they left they grabbed the dry boards and one of the adults said that we had to put another coat of paint on all the of the boards.
